Hi everybody Dr. Mandy here. Today I’m getting online to talk about one question that I think is in the back of anybody’s mind that is a hearing aid candidate or somebody that is looking into hearing aids is “Are hearing aids worth it?”
For me, absolutely hearing aids are worth it. I have a hearing loss. I’ve had my whole life and if I didn’t have my hearing aids, then I wouldn’t even be able to work, be social, interact with my kids. So absolutely, for me hearing aids are 100% worth it.
In general hearing aids have the stigma of being associated with aging and that is not necessarily the case. Hearing loss can be caused by several things, medications, health conditions, acoustic trauma, viruses, so many things. And it’s not always about age and it kind of annoys me when you get that stigma of hearing loss means I’m getting older and I have to wear hearing aids. No absolutely not, that’s not the case. Hearing aids help with our brain activity, we get our hearing loss corrected – it gives us more confidence to be social to go out. We don’t find ourselves being withdrawn any more we don’t find ourselves getting depressed or sad because we can’t interact with our loved ones anymore.
There’s so many reasons why hearing aids are completely worth it. So if you have any questions, or you just want to talk more about what you can do to improve your quality of life, do not hesitate to call the office at 605-306-3050.
